Hurricanes take Bradly Nadeau with No. 30 pick
Carolina Hurricanes draft pick Bradly Nadeau Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Hurricanes have selected forward Bradly Nadeau with the No. 30 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Nadeau may be small, but his numbers are enormous. He led the BCHL’s Penticton Vees in scoring during the regular season and finished second behind his older brother, Josh, during the playoffs en route to capturing the Fred Page Cup. In recognition of his efforts, he was named BCHL MVP and BCHL Playoff MVP. Not bad.

The 5-foot-10 center scored 45 goals and 113 points in just 54 games with Penticton during the 2022–23 BCHL season. The New Brunswick product added 17 goals and 35 points in 17 playoff games with the Vees. He is committed to attending the University of Maine starting next season.

Nadeau is the latest addition to a Hurricanes prospect pool that also includes Justin Robidas, Alexander Nikishin and Gleb Trikozov (to name a few). The Canes did not make a selection in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Carolina does not possess another pick in the first round and barring any additional moves, the Canes’ will be back on the clock with the No. 62 overall pick in the second round.

Daily Faceoff‘s Steven Ellis ranked Nadeau as the No. 42 prospect available in this year’s draft. Here’s what he had to say about Nadeau in his final 2023 NHL Draft Rankings:

“The best Canadian Jr. A player, Nadeau had 113 points this season, third most among U-18 BCHLers since 2000. His older brother, Josh, finished three points behind him on Penticton, with the pair placing 1-2 in league scoring. Don’t ignore Jr. A stars – Kent Johnson, Alex Newhook and, most notably, Cale Makar are all recent standouts.”

The Hurricanes finished the 2022–23 regular season with a 52-21-9 record and 113 points in 82 games, enough to finish first in the Metropolitan Division and second in the league.
