The Montreal Canadiens announced on Monday that Cole Caufield is the recipient of the Molson Cup Trophy for the month of November. This is the 2nd straight month that the Habs sniper has received that honour. Caufield led the way among all Habs players by being named the 1st star of the game on 3 different occasions throughout November.

The 24-year-old forward scored 5 goals and 13 points in 13 games during the month. It was a much harder month for the Canadiens as a whole, but Caufield managed to continue producing at a good clip even during the tougher moments of November. While Suzuki continues to lead the Habs in points, it has been Caufield who has been the one who has come up clutch most of the time for the Canadiens this season.
If Caufield continues to play the way he has so far this season, he has the chance to put an end to a 4-year streak where Suzuki gets his name on the trophy at year’s end. It will be interesting to see if the sniper can continue to rack up more 1st stars than Suzuki, who tends to really start dominating the NHL later in the year, over the past few seasons. Nobody outside Suzuki has been the recipient of the Monthly Molson Cup honour more than twice over those 4 seasons of the captain’s dominance.

There will be a pre-game ceremony to honour Caufield’s month of November on Tuesday night against the Ottawa Senators, where he will be presented with the Molson Cup for the 2nd month in a row. Strangely enough, the award will have been presented against the Senators for the 2nd straight month as well.
Other news that is surrounding the Habs on Monday is that Head Coach Martin St. Louis announced that Samuel Montembeault will get the start in goal for the Canadiens against the Senators on Tuesday. It’s honestly great to see that St. Louis names his starters in advance this season so it takes away any question marks on the day of the game, especially when it is the first game on a back-to-back. Considering that Tuesday’s game is the first of a back-to-back, that means Jakub Dobes will get the start on Wednesday night against the Winnipeg Jets.

Montembeault will be hoping to build off his great performance against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, where he made 30 saves on 31 shots. Prior to that game, he had looked very shaky in the first quarter of the season. With that being said, Friday’s game may be exactly what the Habs goaltender needed to turn everything around. It will be interesting to see how he plays on Tuesday.
After missing Saturday's game, #Habs Jayden Struble (upper-body) will not practice today; he is considered day-to-day.

Jayden Struble missed practice on Monday and is still listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury. It’s unclear whether or not he will play on Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s possible that due to his injury, even if he’s good to go, the Canadiens will keep him out of one of the 2 games so that he can recover properly.
