The Chicago City Council officially declared the 8th of August to be 'Patrick Kane Day.'

After he suddenly left the team and city a few years ago, fans didn't really have a chance to say goodbye properly, and this gesture hopefully adds some closure to the whole ordeal.

This special day also included a special reference: The date. 8/8 is what shows up on the calendar, and it is a reference to the legendary No. 88 jersey he has worn throughout his career in the NHL.

From this day on, the 8th of August will be celebrated as Kane's service to the city of Chicago, both on the ice and off the ice.
