The Colorado Avalanche announced Tuesday that the team has re-signed goaltender Trent Miner to a one-year contract through the 2024-25 season.

Miner was originally drafted by the Avalanche in the seventh round (No. 202) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The 23-year-old netminder signed a three-year, entry-level NHL contract with Colorado on May 27, 2021.

During the 2023-24 season, the Brandon, Manitoba native played 29 games across the American Hockey League and ECHL. In 18 games for the Colorado Eagles (AHL), Miner went 9-6-1 with a .930 save percentage, a 2.10 goals-against average and one shutout. He led the team in goaltender stats. Colorado went 40-25-5-2 during the regular season and lost in three games (2-1) of the AHL first round to the Abbotsford Canucks.

Overall, Miner has gone 13-12-2 with a .920 save percentage and 2.32 goals-against average in 30 AHL games.

In the ECHL, Miner went 6-5-0 with a .917 save percentage and a 2.75 goals-against average in 11 games. Prior to turning pro, he was a standout for the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League, going 24-5-1 with a .924 save percentage and a 1.98 goals-against average during his best season (2018-19).

Since signing his first professional contract, Miner has bounced back and forth between the AHL and ECHL. But with each season, he has gotten better. After playing in only 12 AHL games over three seasons, the six-foot-one, 185-pound goaltender beat that mark last year alone.

The Avalanche had their season end on Friday in a Game 6 loss to the Dallas Stars in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Colorado won four straight to knock off the Winnipeg Jets in five games in the first round.
