The Chicago Blackhawks have entered the offseason, but six players are still in action for their respective countries at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. Coming off a Calder Trophy-worthy rookie season , Connor Bedard stayed hot by scoring two goals in Canada's 4-2 tournament-opening win over Great Britain.
Both of Bedard's tallies came in the second period, and his first goal of the tournament proved to be the game-winner. Olen Zellweger's long shot from the point strayed wide but bounced in front of the net, where Michael Bunting touched it to a driving Bedard for a top-shelf tuck.

Shortly after, Canada executed a rush up the ice that culminated in Bedard potting a touch feed from Nick Paul after Kaiden Guhle's shot from up high.

Great Britain got one back in the third period, but Canada held on to record a two-goal victory. Bedard finished with two goals on four shots in 15:32 of ice time.
Bedard and Canada will be back in action Sunday at 9:20 AM CT when they take on Denmark. If Saturday's IIHF Worlds opener is any indication, expect Bedard to fill up the score sheet once again.
