Connor Brown could be an X-Factor for the Oilers during Cup final

The Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers is just around the corner, and it’s set to be an exciting matchup. Not only is the idea of a rematch enticing, but it’s also going to be a heavyweight battle between two of the deepest teams in the league that boasts some of the best offensive and defensive players in the game.

But while the Connor McDavids, Leon Draisaitls, Aleksander Barkovs and Sergei Bobrovskys will get all of the attention, it will likely be the depth of these two teams that plays the biggest role in deciding this series. One of those players may be Connor Brown, who’s quietly strung together an excellent playoff run.

Frank Seravalli talks about Connor Brown and how he might impact the Oilers Cup chances on Daily Faceoff Live.

Frank Seravalli: My under-the-radar guy is Connor Brown. He’s expected to be in the Game 1 lineup. He’s been dealing with an illness of late as well.

He’s someone that, when you look at his goal total so far from these playoffs, he’s only one back of McDavid and he’s tied with Nugent-Hopkins and a bunch of other top-end Edmonton Oilers that make way more money, that have gotten way more attention. Evander Kane, he’s tied with as well. This is a perfect under-the-radar-type guy that has contributed. It feels like he has more goals on this playoff run than he did the entirety of last regular season, which might actually be true.

But nonetheless, that’s the type of guy that you look for. How can the Oilers find a way to continue that production? How can they get just a little bit more out of this lineup? That would be one guy that I would look at.
