The Winnipeg Jets were the No. 1 seed in 2025, but after failing in the second round, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has opened up on the team's future.
After a fantastic regular season, the Winnipeg Jets came into the Stanley Cup Playoffs full of momentum and optimism, and in the first round, they barely managed to sneak by the St. Louis Blues in Game 7.
Then, they ran into another division foe in the Dallas Stars, but this time they weren't as lucky, as the team fought hard only to be eliminated in Game 6 of the second round in a very emotional scene for this core group of players.
While some fans are looking at this failure as an opportunity for the Jets to reset, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has set the record straight, revealing that the goal of this core in Winnipeg remains a Stanley Cup.
«We're all very motivated for a cup that's our goal, that's all we got on our mind.»
With the likes of Nikolaj Ehlers set to be a free agent with Gabriel Vilardi to be an unrestricted free agent, there's certainly some big questions to be answered in Winnipeg this summer, with Hellebuyck himself needing to step up and finally prove he's an elite goaltender in the post-season before they can be considered contenders.
While it won't be Hellebuyck to be making the decisions, the organization is hell bent on making a Stanley Cup run, so after a disappointing end to their year, it's highly likely that they'll try and run it back in 2026.
Ultimately, this team has all the makings of a Stanley Cup contender, but as of right now they've had some struggles in net in the post-season while running into some fantastic teams, but as of right now, their focus clearly remains on hoisting Lord Stanley with this group.
