Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers faced the Dallas Stars on Sunday afternoon in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final. The series was tied at one apiece heading in, and both teams had a big opportunity to grab a 2–1 lead.
Dallas held the edge in shots on goal (34–24), but it didn’t show on the scoreboard. Edmonton led 3–1 entering the third period, then broke the game open with three goals to win 6–1.
McDavid scored twice, and Oilers forward Zach Hyman added two of his own in the final frame to help seal the victory.
Hyman has played a key role in Edmonton’s success this season and over the past four years since coming over from the Toronto Maple Leafs. His numbers may not be as good as last year’s, but he’s still making an notable impact with five goals and six assists through 14 playoff games.
McDavid has taken notice and was asked about Hyman after Sunday’s game. During his response, the Oilers captain admitted Hyman is a "wrecking ball out there right now."
"It's impressive to watch, amazing to watch, and I get obviously a front row seat to it every night," McDavid said. "So, he's a wrecking ball out there right now. Everybody's buying in though and doing things that maybe not, you know, the most comfortable things, or the things that maybe they're not the most used to doing. And obviously, he's leading the way that way."

Hyman was drafted in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers but never played a game for them. He went on to spend six seasons in Toronto before emerging as one of the league’s better goal scorers in Edmonton.
In the regular season, Hyman recorded 27 goals, 17 assists, and 44 points in 73 games.
McDavid and Hyman are now within two wins of reaching the Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive season. Game 4 between the Oilers and the Stars is scheduled for Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET.
