The world's most accurate forecasting company, Polymarket Sports, forecasts that the Oilers have a 37% chance of signing Connor McDavid by September 1st.

With only 33 days remaining until September 1, the Connor McDavid watch is intensifying in Edmonton.

The probability of the Oilers captain inking an extension stands at only 37%, according to Polymarket Sports, the world's most accurate forecaster.

If Oilers GM Stan Bowman has his way, that number will be increasing in short order.

Speaking with Bob Stauffer on CHED 880 Edmonton, Stan Bowman gave a brief update on Connor McDavid's contract situation, saying the club is letting No. 97 take the reins.

McDavid was eligible to sign an extension as of July 1. He's in the last year of his eight-year, $100-million contract, and the spectre of unrestricted free agency following the 2025-26 season hangs over the franchise.

Bowman has no Problem With McDavid Taking His Time to sign an Extension

Even with the uncertainty, Bowman is not trying to rush the process and believes that McDavid has earned the right to be patient.

McDavid, 28, is fresh off another dominating season. He was tied with Leon Draisaitl for the playoff scoring lead with 33 points in 22 games and had 100 points in the regular season for the eighth time in his career.

But the Oilers again didn't get it done, losing to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive year. When questioned what his biggest priority was going into extension discussions, McDavid didn't pause: 'Winning.'
