Controversial Oiler Stuart Skinner Gets Brutally Honest About Losing in Cup Finals for 2nd Straight Year

Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner, who has drawn criticism for his play, is speaking out after dropping a 2nd straight Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers.

The Edmonton Oilers continue to deal with the heartbreak of having lost in the Stanley Cup Final for the 2nd year in a row to the same opponent, the Florida Panthers, and many Oilers fans feel there could have been a different outcome had Stuart Skinner not been their goaltender.

Skinner may have enjoyed moments of success in the postseason, including multiple shutouts in the WCF against the Dallas Stars, but he was unable to come through when it mattered most; the same can be said about teammate Calvin Pickard.

Before taking part in a hockey event at the PGA Tour Champions stop at the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, Skinner admitted that the SCF loss was devastating but that he's already looking to the future.

I think going through it the first time, you go through that experience in the summer and then you realize the things you did well and the things you didn't do well. So going through it a second time, which is obviously devastating, but being able to say you went through this does actually help you get over it quicker, just because you have to go back into training and do it all over again.

Oilers GM Stan Bowman is taking a calculated risk that Connor McDavid will still re-sign with the team despite no clear upgrade being made in the crease.

The Oilers have made multiple subtractions since their SCF loss

The Oilers have made multiple subtractions to their team in the 2 months since losing to the Panthers.

Gone are Evander Kane and Viktor Arvidsson, who were traded to the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins. Corey Perry signed with the divisional foe Los Angeles Kings, while both John Klingberg and Jeff Skinner signed with the San Jose Sharks.
