Coyotes D Travis Dermott expected to be back after All-Star break
Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports

After enduring a lower-body injury , Arizona Coyotes defenseman Travis Dermott has a timeline when he’ll return as their NHL All-Star break has come.

Following a 3-1 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night, Coyotes head coach André Toruigny stated that he expects Dermott to take full advantage of the time off and will be back soon.

“He will be back after the break, he is day-to-day,” Tourigny said. “Yeah, he has been banged up for a little while, so the break will be very important for him.”

Arizona is off for 11 days now as the 2024 NHL All-Star event begins on Feb. 1 in Toronto. Clayton Keller will be the representative for the Coyotes.

Players can choose what to do during this long break, including Dermott who will rest up and recover before the Coyotes’ season revs back up again on Feb. 8 against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Last night, Dermott was not on the ice for pregame warmups and settled the speculation down beforehand as to if he was going to play or not.

Ultimately, Victor Söderström filled in for Dermott against the ‘Canes and recorded a hit, block and 13:20 time-on-ice.

But after the postgame scrum, Söderström, along with forward Justin Kirkland, were sent down to the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL).
