Earlier this week, TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button released his list of the top 50 NHL-affiliated prospects. Button joined TSN as a contributor after serving as Calgary Flames general manager from 2000 to 2003. His list prominently features two players  selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft. Simon Edvinsson, who Detroit selected sixth overall last summer, sits behind only Buffalo Sabres defenseman Owen Power and Ottawa Senators rearguard Jake Sanderson on Button’s top-50 rankings. Button also ranked Red Wings goaltending prospect Sebastian Cossa at the No. 13 position on his list. The Red Wings originally selected Cossa with the 15th-overall pick in 2021. Edvinsson, 19, has been a force to be reckoned with in the Swedish Hockey League this season.
