Crave: Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton confronted Juraj Slafkovský at the end of the season

Last night, the final episode of the second season of La reconstruction was published on Crave. The episode focuses on the club’s (brief) playoff run… but also on the few days following the club’s elimination. And of the lot, we notably got a little access to the end-of-season meetings. Not only did we get to see the directors explain a bit about the purpose of all this, but we also got to see (part of) the interview between Juraj Slafkovský and his bosses towards the end of the episode. And it’s quite interesting to see the dynamic that emerges.Obviously, the subject of Slaf ‘s slow start to the season was touched on. And what we notice is that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have confronted him on that level. The managers want to see him be more disciplined… and they let him know:

I know you want to perform, but you need discipline to do what’s necessary to reach 100% or even 95% of your potential.

Kent Hughes

Gorton, meanwhile, quizzed him on what’s kept him from having a big start to the campaign, and in Slaf‘s eyes, it’s a mental issue. The4 Nations break did him good, he says. Atone point, Gorton also confronts him about the way he deals with the media… and that’s interesting too: “

The way you vent after a bad game is to tell the media that you weren’t good today. And that won’t help you either.

Jeff Gorton

And Slaf agrees on this level: he admits he has to stop doing that. It makesyou wonder if we’ll see another Slafkovský in front of the media this year, as he’s never been afraid to speak his mind. It’s interesting to see the dynamic that exists between the player and management… and now we’ll have to see if, as he enters the first year of his big contract, Slaf will finally be able to put all the pieces of the puzzle in the right place.

Let’s see if his bosses’ words will whip him.

’Overtime’

– Makes sense.

Kirill Kaprizov finds he has “plenty of time” to sort out his contractual situation in Minnesota.

Bill Guerin tries to be reassuring.

– Logic.

– The Roses qualified for the playoffs.
