Crushing News Hits the Maple Leafs and Anthony Stolarz Hours Before Game 3 Puck Drop

Anthony Stolarz head injury has been a major story in this series thus far, and now, it appears he'll be missing for at least a few more games.

Game 1 of the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers second round series matchup was a thriller, and while the Maple Leafs came away with a win, eventually making it 2-0 after taking Game 2 as well, it wasn't without major loss.

During the game, Anthony Stolarz was taken from the ice vomiting, and eventually he had to be stretchered from the arena, with fears that he suffered a major concussion from a shot directly to the mask and then an elbow to the head from former teammate Sam Bennett.

The hopes were that it would just be minor and we'd see Stolarz again, but as of right now, there's no true timeline for his return, with Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube confirming that he won't travel to Florida for Game's 3 and 4.

At practice on Friday, it was Matt Murray and Dennis Hildeby that were in net behind Joseph Woll, and at this point in time, it's highly unlikely that we see Stolarz until at least Game 5.

If Toronto can take a commanding 3-0 lead in Game 3 or leave Florida with a 3-1 lead, there's a chance that the team look to rest him until absolutely necessary, but for now, Toronto aren't giving away too many details on the situation of the veteran goaltender.

Heading into Game 3, the Maple Leafs find themselves in a position they've not been in much in recent years, so having the veteran would be ideal at this point in time, but after Joseph Woll performed well in the Stanley Cup Playoffs a year ago, there's optimism that this team can win no matter who is in net.
