Former Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weise is exposing goaltender Carey Price in a great way, calling him the NHL's best 'ultimate superstar' player.
The career of Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is all but officially over, as he's not played since 2021-22 thanks to a lingering knee injury.
He still has a year left on his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $10.5 million, as he was once the highest paid goalie in the NHL. The Canadiens are reportedly trying to trade his contract and could have a deal done soon.
Former Canadiens forward Dale Weise, who was part of the Montreal team with Price that went to the ECF in 2014, recently spoke about how great a teammate Price was and that he always shouldered the blame, even when the rest of the team was playing poorly.
He would never point the finger (at his teammates). It was always, 'I should've been better.' We just got outshot 47-15, what do you mean you should've been better?
Why Teammates Wanted Price to Call Them Out - But He Never Did
Weise also said that he sometimes wished the Price, given his status as one of the game's best goalies, would be more vocal in calling out his teammates.
Behind closed doors, he never pointed a finger, never ever. I was blown away. Sometimes I wanted him to start calling guys out. Everybody knows it, you can say it and nobody would be offended. You need some more run support. We gotta do more for you, like say it. But he would never do that.
With 361 wins, Price is the winningest goalie in Canadiens franchise history.
