Nill has done a fantastic job of building up the Stars’ roster. Since being hired in 2013, he has led the franchise to a Stanley Cup Final in 2020 and has been to the last three Western Conference Finals. He also won the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award for three straight seasons dating back to 2022-23.
Nill’s extension comes just one day after the Toronto Maple Leafs fired their GM, Brad Treliving. Nill was seen as a potential candidate for the Maple Leafs GM spot, yet it’s clearly off the table.
Under Nill, the Stars have a 549-345-125 record, the eighth best in the league over the past 13 seasons. The Stars have also clinched a playoff spot this season, making it the seventh time in the last eight years the team has played in the postseason.
