Dallas Stars at Vegas Golden Knights Game 6 Recap | 05/03/2024

The Dallas Stars returned to Las Vegas, Nevada, to take on the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6. The Golden Knights 2-0 at T-Mobile Arena blew the Stars out. Dallas and Vegas are now tied 3-3.

The Stars’ starting lineup featured Joe Pavelski, Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, Chris Tanev, Esa Lindell, and Jake Oettinger. Oettinger made 28 saves in a losing effort. Meanwhile, Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill stopped all 23 shots he faced in a hard-fought win.

The Golden Knights brought their A-game to the first period, while the Stars appeared to be fatigued. Neither team scored a first-period goal.

The Stars and Golden Knights were in a scoreless deadlock at the end of the first period. Vegas outshot Dallas 10-6 after 20 minutes.

The Stars picked up the pace in shot attempts in the second period, but the Golden Knights got the first power play of the game after Ryan Suter was called for slashing against Mark Stone at 4:34. Vegas, however, couldn’t capitalize on the power play.

The Stars went on a second penalty kill after Miro Heiskanen was called for hooking against Jonathan Marchessault at 14:19. The Golden Knights got their second power play. Once again, Vegas couldn’t capitalize on the power play.

There was a crazy sequence that ended with William Carrier getting called for holding against Jason Robertson at 17:07. The Stars got their first power play of the game. Dallas, however, couldn’t capitalize on the power play.

The Stars and Golden Knights remained in a scoreless deadlock after two periods. Shots were tied 18-18 through 40 minutes.

The Golden Knights finally broke the scoreless deadlock. Noah Hanifin fired a wrist shot into the Stars’ net for a 1-0 lead at 9:54. Hanifin’s unassisted goal was his second of the playoffs.

The Stars pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, but the 6-on-5 play didn’t work in their favor.

The Golden Knights doubled their advantage. Mark Stone fired a wrist shot into the Stars’ empty net for an empty-net goal and a 2-0 lead at 19:41. William Karlsson and Alex Pietrangelo collected the assists on Stone’s third of the playoffs.

The Stars lost to the Golden Knights 2-0 at the end of regulation. Vegas outshot Dallas 30-23 after 60 minutes.
