Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin exited Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres with an apparent lower-body injury.

The incident occurred early in the first period when Seguin and Sabres forward Jordan Greenway were tangled up, with Greenway’s skate cutting Seguin right over the top of his left shin pad.

Seguin was clearly in pain and had visibly bled on the ice as he hobbled off to the locker room. Prior to the unfortunate run-in, Seguin had logged 3:21 of ice time, posting one shot and one hit in that short space.

The 31-year-old Bampton Ontario product has registered 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) in 64 games this season. He ranks sixth among Stars players in assists and fourth in goals.

The six-time NHL All-Star has appeared in 889 regular season games all told, totaling 322 goals and 406 assists for 728 career points. Seguin is currently in the fourth year of an eight-year, $78 million contract.
