Dallas Stars Fans Expose NHL's Double-Standard After Dirty Play on Roope Hintz

Dallas Stars fans aren't happy with what they felt was a double standard when it came to the non-punishment of Darnell Nurse after his slash on Roope Hintz.

The Dallas Stars and their fans were not happy after a controversial slash by Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse on Stars forward Roope Hintz only yielded a 2-minute minor penalty.

Additionally, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Nurse would not face any further supplemental discipline in the form of a fine or a suspension.

The double standard being faced by the Stars, at least in the minds of a Dallas fan page, was posted to X on Saturday, not long after Nurse was confirmed not to be facing any additional penalties while referencing a controversial play from the 2023 postseason.

Additionally, Stars coach Peter DeBoer openly said he feels the NHL would have ruled differently had an Oilers star like Connor McDavid been slashed and required assistance to get off the ice.

Does anyone in this room think if Connor McDavid gets carried off the ice like that it's not a five-minute major?
Again, you know, if that's 97 (McDavid) carried off the ice in the same situation, I think we all know the answer to what that looks like for us.

Stars forward Mason Marchment also voiced his dissatisfaction with the lack of harsher punishment for Nurse.

He's one of our best players and now he's done for the game, right? I don't really want to tell them what they should do or what they should have called, but that's one of our best players, and I don't think it was enough.
