Dallas Stars Provide Horrible Injury Update on Key Player; Set to Miss the Remainder of the Season

In a horrible injury update on Tyler Seguin, the Dallas Stars announced that the forward is set to miss the rest of the season.

On Monday, the Dallas Stars placed the forward Tyler Seguin in the Injury Reserve retroactively to December 1st.

Today, the General Manager of the team Jim Neel announced that Seguin will miss four to six months of action as he'll undergo hip surgery.

The organization shared the following statement:

'Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that forward Tyler Seguin will undergo surgery on Thursday, Dec. 5 to repair a left side FAI (femoral acetabular impingement) and the left side hip labrum. Seguin is expected to miss four to six months.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. Bryan T. Kelly at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, N.Y.'

Seguin, 32, was on track to have one of the best seasons of his career. After 19 games, the veteran had tallied 20 points, including nine goals, putting him on pace for an 86-point season.

His line, with Mason Marchment and Matt Duchene, was one of the best in the entire league.

The Ontario native is currently in the sixth season of his eight-year, $9.85 million AAV contract with the Stars.

He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2010 and won a Stanley Cup in 2011

It's a terrible blow for the team, who loses not only one of their best players but one of their most important leaders.

In his career, he scored 360 goals and 448 assists in 988 regular-season games for the Bruins and the Stars, and added 71 points in 133 playoff games.

The Stars are sitting at the 3rd rank in the Central Division with a 16-8-0 record. His team will be back on the ice tonight to face the Kings in Los Angeles, trying to extend their winning streak to four games.
