The Dallas Stars were hoping to close out their Stanley Cup playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. However, that was not in the cards.
Instead, the Stars couldn't get anything going offensively and fell by a final score of 4-0.
Despite having multiple opportunities to score, Dallas could not put the puck in the net. It was a struggle all night long. While the loss was disappointing, the Stars now have an opportunity to close out the series and advance to the Eastern Conference final at home.
Following the loss on Thursday night to the Jets, the Stars sent out a hilarious reaction on social media.
"Saturday in Dallas?" the post read. "We prefer playing in front of our fans anyway!"

Coming into the series, it was expected to be hotly contested between two extremely talented teams. Prior to Thursday night, Dallas had its way. The Stars won Game 1 with a final of 3-2 before losing Game 2 by a final score of 4-0. They won Game 3 by a score of 5-2 and Game 6 with a final score of 3-1 before losing on Thursday night.
Closing out a series is difficult in any sport. Playing a close-out game at home is certainly a much easier task.
Game 6 will be played on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET. Fans will be able to watch the game on ABC.
In order to knock out Winnipeg, the Stars need to figure things out offensively. Having two games in a series losing 4-0 is not a great look. Dallas is too talented to have such a struggle scoring.
Connor Hellebuyck, the Jets' goaltender, spoke out about Game 6 and sent a warning to the Stars.
“They’re going to have a big pushback the next game, so we’ve got to make sure our details are right and we bring it,” Hellebuyck said. “Our backs are against the wall and it’s time to play Jet hockey.”
