The Dallas Stars got some bad news when it came to forward Jason Robertson and his availability for the start of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Head coach Pete DeBoer revealed on Friday that the star player sustained a lower-body injury in the club's final regular-season game against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday and that the player will miss the start of their first-round series against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

While stating that Dallas' leading goal scorer will be out 'week-to-week,' he did acknowledge that the player could return later in the series.

"If the series goes more than a week, then yeah, DeBoer confirmed.

Still, it's a devastating blow for the Stars to be without their 35-goal scorer from this season.

"Next man up, it's that time of year," DeBoer said while reacting to the news. "We're not going to be the only team either starting without somebody or losing someone at some point."

Robertson appeared to be injured when his leg collided with a Nashville Predators early in the second period. He left the game and did not return.

The Hockey News' Emma Lingan reported that Robertson was seen leaving Bridgestone Arena wearing a brace

The Stars' series against the Avalanche has been described as one of the toughest opening round matchups in the playoffs. That series gets underway on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The Stars have made it to the Western Conference final in each of the past two seasons and Robertson has been a big part of that with 14 goals and 24 assists in 45 career playoff games.

The American-born Robertson wasn't selected to be a part of the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament in February. He responded by scoring 15 of his 35 goals following the two-week break while the international tournament took place.
