Dallas Stars: Top 10 Prospects

The Dallas Stars have been a successful team for more than a few years now. Their Stanley Cup team is fading making them one of the oldest teams in the NHL. The franchise will have more than a few prospects to fill the void. They don’t have a lot of A quality, but they have lots of B and C types. The one commodity they have is a lot of centers, and that’s something a lot of teams don’t have.

Mavrik Bourque

Bourque is a 5-10 center who is having a career year for Shawinigan in the QMJHL. He had a great offseason of training. His speed through the neutral zone is evident, and that’s something you just can’t teach. He’s a scorer and a playmaker.

Wyatt Johnston

Johnson is a 6-2 center who has been putting up big numbers with the Windsor Spitfires. He plays up high on the power play and can make that pass down low to get a tap in from teammates. He has good speed and stick and puck control going down the ice. Already strong on his skates, that enables him to get to the net.

Thomas Harley

Harley is a defenseman who passes with great ease on the power play and with players on him 5-on-5. With the puck, there’s no hesitation. His development has stalled a bit.

Logan Stankoven

Stankoven is a center who is strong on the power play, he will load up on his wrist shot. He has decent speed. He will take a hit to make a play. Stankoven is a good passer who blocks shots and is physical. 

Ty Dellandrea

Dellandrea was rushed to the NHL. His solid two-way play shows off his knack for getting short-handed opportunities. His good hands are a great asset for his team. His offense has been very inconsistent. 

Oskar Back

Back is an older Swedish center who is now 21. He’s a smart 200-foot player with a decent offensive upside and good hockey I.Q. Back jumped from the SHL to the AHL in the 2021-22 season.

Riley Damiani

Damiani is a playmaking center with a nose for the net. He looks for scoring opportunities. A coach’s best friend who plays both sides of the puck and has a ton of energy. 

Ayrton Martino

Martino was a draft sleeper. He’s a good skater who can turn defense into offense. He has a dangerous one-timer on the power play. Martino is off to a good start with Clarkson University.

Riley Tufte

Tufte is a 6-6, 220-pound man who can get down the ice and score occasionally in close, but his main role as he recently made his NHL debut with the Stars will be a 4th line player who will drop the gloves when necessary.

Antonio Stranges

Stranges is a versatile forward still battling consistency issues. He has terrific speed and still needs to be better in his own end. He shows terrific flashes.
