Detroit Red Wings Prospect Leads NCAA in Points

The Detroit Red Wings have a prospect currently playing at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in Max Plante. Plante leads the country in points with 19 on nine goals and ten assists. He’s fourth in the country in goals and fifth in assists. Plante has the Bulldogs ranked seventh in the country with an 8-2-0 record. Plante is a +13 this season with two power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and a game-winning goal.

Max Plante

The Detroit Red Wings drafted Plante 47th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, in his first year at Minnesota-Duluth, he played in 23 games, recording 28 points on nine goals and 19 assists. He was a plus-five with three power-play goals and a game-winning goal. Plante also played in six games for Team USA in the WJC-20. He had three points on a goal and two assists. The season before he got drafted he played in 51 games for the US National Team and 25 games for the USNTDP Juniors in the USHL. In those 51 games, he had 61 points, including 15 goals and 46 assists. In the USHL he recorded 29 points on six goals and 23 assists. Plante also played in seven games for Team USA in the WJC-18. He recorded 11 points on two goals and nine assists. Plante will be a name to watch this season and he will likely sign his ELC following this season and join Grand Rapids.
