Devils, Islanders make minor trade

Durandeau was the New York Islanders’ sixth-round, No. 165 overall selection in the 2017 NHL Draft. He has one goal and three assists in 12 games this season with the Islanders’ AHL affiliate in Bridgeport. The Montreal, Quebec product made his AHL debut during the 2019-20 season, he has appeared in 179 career regular-season games, recording 49 goals and 63 assists for 112 points, all with Bridgeport. During the 2022-23 campaign, Durandeau scored 24 goals and 31 assists for 55 points in 68 games, which was good for third on the team.

Prior to going pro, he played four seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 2015-16 to 2018-19. During those years, he suited up with two current Devils’ forwards Timo Meier and Nico Hischier.

Thompson has appeared in 98 career games with Utica tallying 15 goals and 35 assists for 50 points, all with Utica. He has added four points in 11 Calder Cup Playoff contests. The 24-year-old was drafted No.96 overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the Devils. He made his NHL debut in 2020-21 registering one point in seven games. Thompson has skated in 11 career NHL games with the Devils from 2020-21 to 2023-24. He will report to Bridgeport.
