Dobson’s Injury Is Bad Timing for the Canadiens

Jus when the Canadiens were rolling into playoff mode, they lost Noah Dobson. He blocked a shot against Columbus, and now he’s out for at least a bit, which sucks because you want your best guys healthy when everything matters most.

Dobson’s been great this season. He’s not just logging big minutes (around 22 a night); he’s actually driving play and making the team look cleaner defensively. Forty‑seven points from a guy on the back end is massive. Losing a defenceman like that doesn’t just change the lineup; it messes with matchups, pairings, and the whole defensive groove the team had built.

The Canadiens are not panicking, but they sure would like Dobson back.

The Habs still beat the Islanders 4–1, so it’s not panic time. Still, this injury is more than a one‑off. With playoffs looming, “reassess in two weeks” is not the kind of timeline that calms you down. You’d rather have certainty than a wait‑and‑see approach.

Enter David Reinbacher from Laval. This is the kind of moment young players dream about. He’ll be thrust into meaningful minutes right before the postseason. It’s a lot to ask: the pace is up, mistakes are magnified, and every play feels heavier. But it’s also a huge shot at proving himself. If Reinbacher can be steady and simple, he might help the team land on its feet.

There’s one game left against the Flyers, but the focus has already shifted to what comes next. The Habs were starting to feel like a real pain to play against. They have grown more structured, more confident, and less likely to break down. Dobson’s absence doesn’t erase that, but it definitely makes the path tougher.

Can the younger guys step up for the Canadiens as they enter the postseason?

So now it’s about response. Do the Canadiens tighten things up and play cleaner? Do the younger guys step up? Or does this become the little tilt that quietly decides a series before puck drop? Either way, we’ll see soon enough as Montreal heads into the playoffs.
