Morgan Geekie broke out for 33 goals alongside David Pastrnak this season, and Don Sweeney has confirmed the Bruins intend to keep the young forward in Boston long-term.
It’s hard to find many bright spots when a storied franchise like the Boston Bruins finishes at the bottom of the Atlantic Division, something that had never happened before. But one storyline quietly rose above the noise: Morgan Geekie.
Geekie’s season didn’t start with much fanfare, but as the months rolled on, his confidence grew, and so did his production.
By the time the curtain closed, he had tallied 33 goals and 57 points in 77 games.
His chemistry with David Pastrnak was especially hard to miss.

For General Manager Don Sweeney, re-signing Geekie isn’t just on the to-do list, it’s a top priority.
We’ve been in constant communication with Morgan’s camp since the time the season ended, Sweeney told Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald.
I have no issues with the timeline of our discussions. We’d like to get it done. We know that it’s going to be somewhere between a one- and an eight-year deal. How’s that?
Sweeney’s tone was relaxed, even a little tongue-in-cheek, but the message was unmistakable: Boston wants Geekie to stay.
Some around the league have speculated that Geekie could become an offer sheet target this summer.
Given his age, position, and breakout production, the idea isn’t far-fetched. Still, Sweeney doesn’t seem fazed.
A recent projection from AFP Analytics predicted Geekie’s next deal will land around four years with an average annual value of $6.59 million, fair money for a 30-goal scorer who’s just scratching the surface.
When the Bruins acquired Geekie, he was viewed as a potential middle-six piece. In just two seasons, he’s become much more than that.
After scoring 17 goals in 2023–24, he nearly doubled that this season, a leap few saw coming, but one the Bruins are eager to reward.
Boston’s season was painful, but the front office isn’t waving a white flag.
Re-signing Geekie sends a clear message: they believe in the pieces they have, and they’re committed to building around them.
Keeping a productive, ascending forward like Geekie is part of that plan. He’s not just insurance — he’s become a legitimate part of their core.
The Bruins know what they have, and they don’t want to lose it. Whether it’s a short-term bridge or a long-term commitment, expect something to get done, likely before another team has a chance to test Boston’s resolve.
