Don’t expect the St. Louis Blues to stand pat at NHL Trade Deadline
? Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

With just over a week away from the NHL Trade Deadline, questions are continuing to rise around the league about which teams are going to sell by the end of the day on March 8.

One of those teams is the St. Louis Blues. While they are not a team to scoff at, the Blues are not necessarily a team to be pointing at and calling them favorites to make it to the playoffs.

However, that does not mean general manager Doug Armstrong is going to turn his phone off heading into the deadline.

Currently, St. Louis has lost three of its last four games, and is fifth in the Central Division. They were holding onto one of the two Wild Card spots in the Western Conference, but their recent slide has placed them four points back of the Nashville Predators for eighth.

On Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk explain their thoughts on whether or not the Blues could be busy over the next 10 days.

Tyler Yaremchuk: The St. Louis Blues will not sell a thing. Their UFAs, not that talented. Pavel Buchnevich, $5.8 million on the books for next year. $5.8 million, if you’re not willing to retain, at this year’s deadline could be pretty tough for a contending team to squeeze in. I think the market for him gets better in the draft or in the summer. I think it’s similar with Kevin Hayes as well.

Frank Seravalli: I think Doug Armstrong is hungry to change up the mix. They’ve been competitive this season, which is fine, but I also think, whether it’s now or in the summer, I don’t see him as someone that’s going to pay Buchnevich whatever the market is for that next deal. I think there’s potentially enough interest now to make it happen.
