Ducks' Lukas Dostal Receives Eye-Opening Prediction

As the Anaheim Ducks continue their offseason, there are still multiple key players left unsigned. Anaheim entered the summer with a few restricted free agents that the team needed to deal with, and so far, they haven't addressed everything.

One of those is goalie Lukas Dostal, who is projected to be the starter next season. The Ducks traded away veteran John Gibson to the Detroit Red Wings, clearing the way for Dostal to take over.

But the goalie remains unsigned, and there have been rumors about his status in Anaheim. However, it does seem like the two sides will come together on a deal sooner rather than later.

Dostal did file for arbitration, likely keeping him in Anaheim. But NHL writer Joe Tansey of Bleacher Report offered a new prediction for Dostal as the summer goes on.

"The Ducks currently have two veteran goalies in Ville Husso and Petr Mrazek on their roster, but they are expected to compete for the backup role. Dostal owns a career .902 save percentage. He has never had a single-season save percentage under .900.

"Dostal should be the top goalie for a squad that is chock full of young talent and one that could make a push at the top eight in the Western Conference in 2025-26," Tansey wrote.

Assuming Dostal is back, the Ducks feel very confident in his ability to lead the team. The goalie was solid for Anaheim last season, going 23-23 over 49 games.

Dostal put up a GAA of 3.10 and a save percentage of .903 for the year. His numbers should only improve as the roster does, and Anaheim could be a sneaky playoff team this season.
