The Detroit Red Wings are currently trailing the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers 3-1 in the third period. Matthew Tkachuk has a hat trick for Florida. Midway through the third period Detroit’s captain Dylan Larkin went down in pain on a non-contact injury. He skated off hunched over in pain and went down the tunnel. Not an ideal situation for a team currently in a playoff spot and coming just over six hours after the trade deadline. Larkin has an assist on the lone Red Wings goal tonight. This season in 62 games he has 54 points on 28 goals and 26 assists. He’s a plus-seven and has ten power-play goals for Detroit.

Dylan Larkin

Larkin is in the 11th season of his NHL career. All of those have come with the Red Wings who drafted him 15th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. In 796 career games, he has 630 points on 270 goals and 360 assists. He’s a career -96 with 82 power-play goals, eight shorthanded goals, and 39 game-winning goals.

Wrap Up

It seems unlikely that he’ll return tonight, he left Wednesday’s loss to Vegas after a brutal cross-check but he did return for overtime. This injury looked much worse and his availability will be something to monitor ahead of Sunday’s game against the Devils.
