This week, EA Sports released its top player ratings for each club for NHL 26, with the Calgary Flames getting ratings for 11 of the over 300 players dropped. Here are the top Flames players by position heading into the new season.
After another solid season with the Flames, MacKenzie Weegar jumped up from an 87 in last year’s title and will be the 13th-ranked left defenceman in NHL 26 at 88 overall. He’s one point shy of the Florida Panthers’ Gustav Forsling, who holds the number 10 spot at 89 overall. Weegar is the Flames’ highest-rated player heading into NHL 26.
No change in overall for Rasmus Andersson, who holds an 88 overall heading into NHL 26 despite a low season from the Flames blueliner. He had another drop in point production and an abysmal plus-minus of -38 this past season. Andersson is still the 11th-ranked right defenceman in the game, tied with seven other players in the top 10.
Coming so close to cracking the top ten goaltenders in NHL 26, Dustin Wolf earned himself an 87 overall rating as one of the top rookies from the 2024–25 season, after appearing in NHL 25 at 81 overall at the start of last season. He ranks 11th for all goalies in NHL 26, sharing a rating with Los Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper.
Another player with no change in rating is forward Nazem Kadri, who still sits at an 87 overall and is listed as the Flames’ best centre in NHL 26.
Jonathan Huberdeau improves from an 85 to 86 overall after his best season with the Flames, even if it’s still a far cry from his 115 points three seasons ago with the Florida Panthers.
A well-deserved boost for the young Flames winger, who jumps up five points from an 79 to an 84 after finding his footing in the NHL with a 24-goal campaign.
Rank in NHL 26 | Player | NHL 26 Rating | NHL 25 Rating |

99 | Dustin Wolf | 87 | 81 |
99 | Nazem Kadri | 87 | 87 |
137 | Jonathan Huberdeau | 86 | 85 |
239 | Blake Coleman | 84 | 84 |
239 | Kevin Bahl | 84 | 79 |
239 | Matt Coronato | 84 | 79 |
239 | Mikael Backlund | 84 | 83 |
285 | Morgan Frost | 83 | 84 |
320 | Martin Pospisil | 80 | 78 |
Looking back at the ratings from NHL 25, I noticed a couple of players have been omitted from this list. Yegor Sharangovich, Connor Zary, and Joel Farabee, who came over before the trade deadline with Morgan Frost.
Zary—who had a rating of 81 overall last season—missed a good chunk of games due to injuries, so no surprise if his rating ends up dropping a point or two.
Even if Farabee and Sharangovich had some rough seasons, both had an 85 overall in NHL 25, and I don’t think their ratings could have fallen that drastically. I’d be shocked if both players end up falling below the 11th Flame currently listed—Martin Pospisil—when the full ratings are shown with the game releasing next month.
What are your thoughts on the ratings? What would you change?
