Jared McCann is drawing immense trade interest, but according to a report, the New Jersey Devils were quickly shut down by the Seattle Kraken.

This off-season around the NHL has been rather slow, and while there's been rumours, we're yet to see a shocking blockbuster trade that could change things up for a franchise or two.

There has been speculation however, with Jared McCann reportedly the target of several teams as interest heats up around the Seattle Kraken's former 40 goal scorer.

New Jersey's Hunt for Scoring Hits a Wall in Seattle

The New Jersey Devils showed immense promise in 2024/25, but unfortunately injuries up front hampered them around the end of the season, and this summer, they've been searching for scoring help.

As a result, they've become the team most interested in McCann, but according to a report from Ryan Novozinsky, the Kraken have repeatedly shut down any interest in the 29-year old star.

'The Devils reportedly checked in with the Kraken about Jared McCann, but were quickly shot down.'

This comes on the back of another solid season for McCann, as he posted 22 goals in all 82 games played, but despite the interest, they've been firm thus far on not wanting to trade the former first-round pick.

Why the Kraken Won't Budge on Moving McCann

It's unclear exactly what the Devils offered for McCann or if things even got that far, but to this point, despite Seattle's mediocrity in recent years, they clearly don't want to trade their veteran forward.

Perhaps if things start slow in 2025/26, this could change before the deadline when much bigger packages will be offered for players, but as of right now they're not motivated to make a deal, meaning the Devils may have to pivot elsewhere.
