The Adirondack Thunder finished the 2025 preseason with a 2-0 record and a lot of things to be happy with as they look ahead at the regular season. Prior to the their first preseason game, head coach Sylvain Cloutheir would shorten the roster, releasing six of the seven players on tryouts, along with forward Adam Robbins, who signed with the Thunder after being acquired from the Tahoe Knight Monsters.

Friday Night in Reading

Despite a lot of notable names out of the lineup on Friday Night, there were a lot of good things that came out of Adirondack’s 3-1 victory. Tyler Brennan would end up going the distance on Friday Night and stopped 23 of the 24 shots in his first full game since April 15th in an OT loss to the Maine Mariners. There’s no doubt it’s a big year for Brennan, as it’s not only contract season but also a chance for him to get a full season under his belt after dealing with injuries during his first two seasons. There’s no doubt that this is a solid start and a big confidence boost for the 22-year-old goaltender.

Dilan Peters, the only player on the Thunder who is still with Adirondack on a tryout basis, had a solid performance on Friday Night. He had no issues throwing the body around and showed why he could be a solid depth piece on this team. Peters has 37 games of ECHL experience under his belt. Another blueliner who made an impact on Friday Night was Mathieu Boisland. The 23-year-old welcomed himself to Adirondack in the third period as he dropped the gloves with Jacob Frasca.

Kishaun Gervais, one of the few names that didn’t have much to prove during camp, came out and put up two goals in the opening game of the preseason. There’s no doubt that Gervais is going to be a big piece of the offense this season, and it’s nice to see him get on the scoresheet early in the season.

Saturday Night vs Trois-Rivières Lions

It was another solid night for the Adirondack Thunder as they swept their two preseason games after a 3-0 win at home against Trois-Riviéres. Once again, the goaltending would be on display as Jeremy Brodeur stopped all 11 shots he saw in 28:47 of action, and Henry Welsch finished the job, stopping all six shots he saw in 31:13 of action on Friday night. In the two combined preseason games, the three goaltenders combined for 40 saves on 41 shots.

“It was important for everyone to get some time on ice, rights. We have the privilege of having two preseason games so we took full advantage and made sure everyone got out there. It’s good to get your feet wet early before the real thing starts and I think it’s everyone is happy how it went.

Matt Salhany, who was a healthy scratch on Friday, had a goal and an assist in his first game in Adirondack (Insert date).

Kishaun Gervais had a solid game on Friday Night, picking up two goals would do what he does best in Glens Falls and get the crowd riled up with a fight against Wyatt McLeod halfway through the third period. There’s no doubt that both of these players are going to be big pieces for the Thunder once they begin the regular season.

Coach’s Thoughts

Head Coach Sylvain Clouthier had a lot to like about the preseason; the one thing that really caught my attention was that he mentioned that the team has yet to work on special teams, which didn’t seem to be too much of an issue.

“We’re just happy. Especially with Friday Night, the way we bought into our systems and the way we played. Tonight I think we were a little nervous at the start and in the second period and they really took it to us, but I think as the game just to see the guys compete and fight back was really nice to see”

Both Clouthier and Ben Holmstrom will have some tough roster decisions to make come Monday, but regardless, the Thunder look very good heading into the regular season.
