The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they’ve signed forward Ben Johnson for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Johnson, 31, has spent the last three seasons in Slovakia, putting up 30 goals and 53 assists for 83 points in 122 games. He would add two goals and four assists for six points in 11 playoff games in Slovakia. This is a big move for Adirondack as they add another big offensive piece to their lineup. Expect to see Johnson in the lineup this weekend when the Thunder visit the Indy Fuel.

The Calument, Michigan, native was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the third round of the 2012 Draft and spent the majority of his first two seasons in the organization. He spent the majority of his time in the AHL with the Albany Devils, putting up six goals and four assists for 10 points in 49 games. Johnson would put up two goals and six assists for eight points in 12 games with the Orlando Solar Bears during the 2014-15 season. He would add two goals and two assists for four points in four games during the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs. During his time in Adirondack, he had three goals and three assists for six points. In 12 games during the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs, he had two goals and five assists for seven points.

Johnson took two years off from hockey and returned to the ECHL during the 2018-19 season. In 104 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones, he put up 31 goals and 49 assists for 80 points. He had three goals and an assist in four games during the 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Johnson would take the 2020-21 season off before returning to the ECHL for one more season before heading overseas. In 53 games with the Kansas City Mavericks, he had 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points.
