The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they’ve traded forward T.J. Friedmann to the Jacksonville Icemen in exchange for defenseman Adrien Beraldo. This deal comes at a time when the Thunder are thin on the blueline, with Jacob Graves going down with a long-term injury, and Adirondack already having healthy bodies available up front.

Adrien Beraldo Joins The Thunder

Berlaldo, 26, has three goals and an assist for four points in 23 games this year with the Icemen after missing most of last season rehabbing an injury. His previous career high in goals was four, which came during his rookie season with the Heartlanders in 49 games. Over the course of his five-year ECHL career, Berlado has put up eight goals and 26 assists for 34 points in 166 games with the Iowa Heartlanders, Reading Royals, Toledo Walleye, and Jacksonville Icemen. He has also played 10 games at the AHL level with the Iowa Wild and Chicago Wolves. I would expect Berlado to solidify a role in the top four on the Thunder blueline. He also brings some toughness as he had 115 PIMs in 58 games during the 2023-24 season when he was with Toledo.

Prior to going pro, the Stoney Creek, Ontario native played three seasons in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes, Kingston Frontenacs, and Niagara Ice Dogs. In 164 games in the OHL, he put up 16 goals and 31 assists for 47 points.

T.J. Friedmann Heads To Jacksonville

Friedmann, 27, has five goals and five assists for 10 points in 30 games this season with the Thunder. He has spent his entire four-year career with the Adirondack Thunder and Utica Comets. In 114 games with the Thunder, he’s put up 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points. He had two assists in 14 games during the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs. During his short time in Utica, he’s put up a goal and an assist in five games. It’s been a rough start for Friedmann as he’s dealt with injuries, and then this year, he’s had issues finding an everyday role in Adirondack’s lineup.

The St.Louis, Missouri, native began his junior career in the NAHL with the Springfield Jr. Blues, where he had two goals and seven assists for nine points in 49 games. After a quick pit stop in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers, Friedmann would head to the BCHL, where he spent parts of two seasons with the Victoria Grizzlies. In 96 games with the Grizzlies, he put up 38 goals and 52 assists for 90 points. He would add five goals and three assists for eight points in 24 playoff games.

After finishing up his junior career, Friedmann headed to the NCAA, where he played five years at Quinnipiac University. In 170 games with the Bobcats, he had 28 goals and 30 assists for 58 points in 170 games. During his five years at Quinnipiac, the Bobcats won back-to-back-to-back ECAC Regular Season Championships from 2021 to 2023, and capped it off with a National Championship in 2023.
