The Florida Everblades are bringing back a familiar presence on the blue line, and this time, he returns with international experience added to his résumé.
Defenseman Cole Moberg heads back to Estero after a 2025–26 run with HC Innsbruck in the ICEHL. He logged significant minutes overseas, wore an “A” as an alternate captain, and recorded 11 points in 47 games before deciding to bring that experience back to Florida on an ECHL Standard Player Contract.
Moberg’s season in Europe added another dimension to a defenseman who has already proven he can handle heavy minutes and postseason pressure in North America. Now, he steps back into an organization where he has steadily delivered when it matters most.
Moberg’s return immediately strengthens a defensive core that favors structure, physicality, and playoff composure. At 6-foot-3, he protects the front of the net, closes gaps with authority, and moves pucks efficiently out of the defensive zone. He does not chase offense at the expense of positioning. Instead, he plays a direct, steady game that fits the Everblades’ identity.
During the 2024–25 campaign with Florida, Moberg appeared in 39 regular-season games and posted two goals and 12 assists for 14 points. Once the postseason began, he elevated his play again, adding three goals and five assists for eight points in 15 playoff contests.
That postseason production was not an outlier. In 2023–24, Moberg recorded 14 points in 60 regular-season games and then matched that total with 14 points in 22 playoff appearances. The previous year, he skated in 67 regular-season games and contributed five points across 22 playoff contests.
Moberg’s postseason impact carries even more weight when you consider that he is a two-time Kelly Cup champion, having played key roles in Florida’s championship runs. He understands what it takes to navigate long playoff series.
Moberg has also tested himself at the American Hockey League level. He appeared in five games with the Syracuse Crunch during the 2023–24 season and previously suited up for the San Jose Barracuda and the Rockford IceHogs. Earlier in his career, he gained ECHL experience with the Orlando Solar Bears before establishing himself as a dependable piece of Florida’s defensive group.
Moberg’s return is more than a routine signing. Fans have seen him block shots in tight games, clear the crease when traffic builds, and jump into the rush at key moments. With Moberg back in the fold after a stint overseas, Florida reinforces its defensive depth with a player who already knows how to win in this league.
