Florida Everblades forward Dru Krebs is heading to the NCAA to join the University of Maine after spending two seasons in the ECHL. Krebs, 23, had four goals and 15 assists for 19 points in 67 games last season with the Fort Wayne Komets. In 15 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, he had a goal and two assists for three points. He was dealt to Florida at the Future Considerations Trade Deadline to complete the deal that sent Kade Landry to the Idaho Steelheads, before being flipped to the Orlando Solar Bears for Jack Adams. Dru becomes the fifth ECHLer to head to the NCAA since the season ended.
During his rookie year in the ECHL, the sixth-round draft pick of the Washington Capitals in 2021, put up two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 58 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. He also saw two games in the AHL with the Ontario Reign.

Prior to going pro, the Okotoks, Alberta native spent parts of five seasons in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Over the course of this time with the Tigers, he had 21 goals and 92 assists for 113 points in 279 games. He would add a goal and four assists for five points in nine WHL playoff games. Krebs also saw one game with his hometown Okotoks Oilers (AJHL) during the 2020-21 season.
Dru has two brothers, Peyton and Dakota, who have both played hockey. Peyton is the biggest name of the three, as he’s spent parts of six seasons in the NHL. The 17th overall pick by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2019 would play in 13 games with the Golden Knights, where he had picked up his first NHL points with an assist. He also saw two games at the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights. The 25-year-old forward has spent parts of the last five seasons with the Buffalo Sabres after being part of the Jack Eichel Trade. Over the course of his time in Buffalo, he’s put up 42 goals and 90 assists for 132 points in 365 games. He had two goals and four assists for six points in 13 games during the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Dakota Krebs had a much shorter playing career, where he had two assists in five games at the end of the 2023-24 season with the Norfolk Admirals. He would add an assist in five games during the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs. In 2024, he took a job in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen to become their video coach. Dakota was promoted to assistant coach for the 2025-26 season.
