ECHL: Indy Fuel Sign Forward Mitchell Hoelscher

Hoelscher, 26, returns to Indianapolis after spending the past two seasons playing in Europe. During that stretch, he recorded 74 points in 96 games. Before heading overseas, the Waterloo, Ontario, native spent the 2023-2024 season in both the ECHL and AHL. Hoelscher appeared in 52 games with the Orlando Solar Bears and recorded 47 points, earning his first ECHL All-Star Game appearance. He also played 18 games that season with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL.

Hoelscher Adds Professional Experience

Hoelscher previously spent a brief stint with the Fuel during the 2022-2023 season. He appeared in six games for Indy and recorded nine points before earning a call-up to Springfield. Hoelscher then played 57 games with the Thunderbirds and helped the team reach the playoffs. The season before that, he recorded 30 points in 25 games with the Atlanta Gladiators. He also played 12 games for the Belleville Senators.

Junior Career

Before turning professional, the 6-foot, left-handed forward spent four seasons with the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League. Hoelscher recorded 146 points in 203 games with Ottawa and helped the club reach the playoffs twice.

Earlier in his career, Hoelscher played for the Elmira Sugar Kings of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. During the 2016-2017 season, he recorded 41 points in 42 regular-season games. Hoelscher added 18 points in 27 playoff games as Elmira captured a championship.

With Hoelscher back in Indianapolis, the Fuel add another experienced forward with both ECHL and AHL experience to their roster for the 2026-2027 season.
