Trois-Rivières Lions defenseman Jacob Paquette is heading overseas to France to join Rouen (Ligue Magnus) after spending parts of the last three seasons with the Lions. Over the course of his three seasons in Trois-Rivières, he had nine goals and 24 assists for 33 points in 134 games. He would add two goals and five assists for seven points in 27 Kelly Cup playoff games, including winning a championship with the Lions in 2025. Paquette is the fifth member of the Lions to take the overseas route since the 2025-26 season came to a close. The Ottawa, Ontario native will re-unite will former teammate Tommy Cormier who also signed with Rouen today.
Prior to going pro, Paquette spent parts of five seasons in the OHL while playing for three different teams. In 296 OHL games, he put up 13 goals and 71 assists for 84 points, he would add two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 47 playoff games. The 27-year-old defenseman would then head to USports where he played three seasons with Queens University. During his time with the Gaels, he had four goals and 18 assists for 22 points in 61 games, he had one assist in three USports Playoff games. In 2023, Paquette won a Universiade Gold Medal with Canada where he put up a goal and four assists for five points in seven games.
