The Tahoe Knight Monsters have re-signed forward Jake McGrew, marking their first signing of the 2026-27 season. McGrew, 27, has put up 41 goals and 37 assists for 78 points in 132 games over the past two seasons, while putting up a goal in 12 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. He also served as an alternate captain last year for the Knight Monsters.

Prior to joining Tahoe, the sixth-round pick by the San Jose Sharks in the 2017 NHL Draft, spent time in the ECHL with the Allen Americans and Orlando Solar Bears. Over the course of his five seasons in the ECHL, he has put 50 goals and 42 assists for 92 points in 146 games with the Orlando Solar Bears, Allen Americans, and Tahoe Knight Monsters. At the AHL level, he has 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points in 84 games with the San Jose Barracuda. In four games during the 2021 Calder Cup Playoffs, McGrew had two goals and an assist in four games. He also spent two seasons in Sweden in HA, with AIK and Västerviks IK. During his time in Sweden, he had eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 61 games. He also saw action in four qualification games in 2024.
Prior to going pro, the Orange, California native spent four seasons in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs. In 132 games with the Chiefs, he had 55 goals and 45 assists for 100 points. In 21 WHL playoff games, he had four goals and nine assists for 13 points.
