Tahoe Knight Monsters forward Luke Adam has announced his retirement from pro hockey after 16 seasons. Adam, 35, spent the final two seasons of his career as the captain of the Tahoe Knight Monsters. In 139 games with the Knight Monsters, he had 37 goals and 49 assists for 86 points. He would add two goals and two assists in 12 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Tahoe.

The St. John’s, Newfoundland, native was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round of the 2008 NHL Draft, and would spend the majority of his North American career in their organization. Adam made his NHL debut with the Sabres on October 26th, 2010. He would go on to play 87 games with Buffalo, where he put up 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points. His only other NHL experience came during the 2014-15 season, where he played in three games with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Adam spent the majority of his career in the AHL with the Rochester Americans and Portland Pirates. In his only season with the Pirates, he would put up 29 goals and 33 assists for 62 points in 57 games. He would be named Rookie of the Year while leading all rookies in points. Adam would add four goals and three assists for seven points during the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs. Over the course of the next four seasons, he would play with the Rochester Americans, where he had 58 goals and 65 assists for 123 points in 183 games. He would add two goals and three assists for five points in 11 Calder Cup Playoff games with the Americans. Before finishing his AHL career, Adam made stops with the Springfield Falcons and Hartford Wolf Pack.
In 2016, Adams went overseas to Germany, where he spent the next seven seasons in the DEL. He spent his first three seasons with Adler Mannheim, where he had 43 goals and 69 assists for 112 points in 148 games. Over the course of three playoff runs with Adler Mannheim, he had 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 31 games, including winning a DEL Championship in 2019, which was his last season with the team. He would spend the following four years with four different teams in Germany. In seven seasons in the DEL, he had 89 goals and 144 assists for 233 points in 317 games. He would add 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 38 playoff games.
During his final season overseas, Adams played in Czechia and Slovakia. In seven games with HC Plzeñ (Czechia), he had two assists. During his time in Slovakia, he had five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 21 games with HC Banska Bystrica.
