The Reading Royals have named Miles Gendron as the team’s captain for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. He becomes the first Royal to wear the “C” since Todd Skirving was named captain for the 2024-25 season, but had his season cut short due to an injury. Gendron, 29, joined the Royals in Mid-November and has put up two goals and six assists for eight points in 28 games. He last wore a letter during the 2021-22 season when he wore an “A” with the Utah Grizzlies . Alec Buther, Ben Meehan, and Brandon Saigeon have all worn an “A” for Reading this season.

The Oakville, Ontario, native is in his seventh season in the ECHL, having spent time with the Newfoundland Growlers, Brampton Beast, Reading Royals, Utah Grizzlies, and Greenville Swamp Rabbits. In 223 career games, he’s put up 24 goals and 44 assists for 68 points. He’s added seven assists in 17 Kelly Cup Playoff games. At the AHL level, he scored two goals and an assist while playing for the Belleville Senators and Colorado Eagles. Gendron also spent parts of two seasons playing overseas. During the 2022-23 season, he had three goals and five assists for eight points in 19 games while playing in Norway with Storhamar. He also had an assist in 19 games with the Belfast Giants during the 2023-24 season, while also playing in one playoff game.
