The Tahoe Knight Monsters have acquired defenseman Nick Carabin from the Cincinnati Cyclones; the return to Cincinnati has not yet been announced. Carabin, 25, has two assists in 13 games this season with the Cyclones after being acquired prior to the start of the regular season. He picked up his first career point in his ECHL debut last season with the Reading Royals. Carabin also saw action in three games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. This is the second addition in the last two days for the Knight Monsters after they signed Craig McCabe yesterday. Carabin has not played since December 20th vs Fort Wayne Komets.
The Mahawa, NJ, native began his career at the junior level, where he put up three goals and 24 assists for 27 points in 58 games in the BCHL with the Coquitlam Express. He would add a goal and an assist in four playoff games with the Express. Carabin would then take the NCAA route, playing his first three seasons at Princeton University. In 80 games with the Tigers, he put up six goals and 23 assists for 29 points. In his final season with the Tigers, he wore an “A” and was named to the NCAA All-Ivy League First Team. He led all Tiger defenseman with five goals that season. During his final season of eligibility, he put up three goals and six assists for nine points in 39 games with the UConn Huskies.
