Trois-Rivières Lions forward Tyler Hylland has announced his retirement after spending parts of three seasons with the Lions. Hylland, 29, had five goals and seven assists for 12 points. Over the course of his three seasons with Trois-Rivières, he had 22 goals and 28 assists for 50 points in 115 games. He would add nine goals and one assist for 10 points in 25 Kelly Cup Playoff games, including winning a Kelly Cup Championship with the Lions last season. His eight goals in the Kelly Cup Playoffs would rank third on the team, behind Alex Beaucage and Anthony Beauregard, who each had 10 goals.

Hylland’s QMJHL and USports Stats

Prior to going pro, the Châteauguay, Quebec, native spent parts of five seasons in the QMJHL with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. In 36 QMJHL playoff games, he had three goals and three assists for six points, including winning a QMJHL Gold Cup in 2014.

Hylland would then take his talents to USports, where he played four years at Concordia University. During his time with the Stingers, he put up 35 goals and 47 assists for 82 points in 89 games. He would add 10 goals and five assists for 15 points in 18 USports Playoff games. In 2020, he was named to the USports (OUA East) All-Rookie Team and Second All-Star Team. He would be one of three players on the Stingers to finish the 2021-22 season with 15 points. In 2023, he won a Universiade Gold Medal with Canada, where he put up four goals and one assist for five points in seven games.
