The Wichita Thunder have announced that they’ve traded defenseman Ty Gibson to the Iowa Heartlanders in exchange for future considerations. Wichita also released forward Anton Rubtsov. Despite losing Gibson and Rubtsov, Wichita was assigned defenseman Noah Beck from the San Jose Barracuda.

Noah Beck Headed To Wichita

Beck, 24, made his professional debut last season, playing one game with the San Jose Barracuda after being drafted by the St.Louis Blues in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He would sign an entry-level deal with the San Jose Sharks back in March. Prior to joining the Barracuda last season, he had five goals and 28 assists for 33 points in 37 games at the Arizona State University in his final year of NCAA eligibility. He spent his first four seasons in the NCAA with Clarkson University, where he put up 15 goals and 41 assists for 56 points in 124 games with the Golden Knights.

The Richmond Hill, Ontario, native played two years of junior hockey, which included a season in the OJHL and USHL. In 55 games in the OJHL with the St.Michael’s Buzzers, Beck put up one goal and 24 assists for 25 points. He would add a goal and three assists in 11 games during the 2019 OJHL playoffs. During his time in the USHL, he would put up four goals and 23 assists for 27 points in 42 games with the Fargo Force.

Ty Gibson Traded To Iowa

Gibson, 22, is coming off his rookie season where he put up nine assists in 59 games with the Adirondack Thunder. Prior to joining Adirondack, the Victoria, BC, native spent parts of five seasons in the WHL. In 187 games with the Everett Silvertips, he put up 10 goals and 46 assists for 56 points in 187 games. He would add two assists in 11 WHL playoff games with the Silvertips. Gibson finished his junior career with the Regina Pats putting up 15 assists in 28 games.
