The Worcester Railers have signed defenseman Brendan Dowler to an ECHL contract for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Dowler, 28, has a goal and an assist in nine games this season with the Knoxville Ice Bears . The Railers have also announced that Calle Odelius has been recalled to the Bridgeport Islanders.

The Worcester Railers have signed defenseman Brendan Dowler to an ECHL contract.
Additionally, defenseman Calle Odelius has been re-assigned to the Bridgeport Islanders from Worcester by the New York Islanders.

The Marbledale, Connecticut, native is heading to the ECHL after spending the last three seasons in the SPHL. He’s spent the majority of his career with the Knoxville Ice Bears, where he’s put up seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 111 games. In eight games in the playoffs last season, he had a goal and three assists for four points. He also had one assist in four games with the Huntsville Havoc during the 2023-24 season. Dowler began his career in the FPHL, where he had six goals and nine assists for 14 points along with 127 penalty minutes in 49 games with the Danbury Hat Tricks. He would add two goals and two assists for four points in nine games as the Hat Tricks won the Commissioner’s Cup.
Prior to going pro, Dowler played three seasons on DIII hockey at the University of Southern Maine. In 68 games with the Huskies, he had 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points.
Odelius, 21, is heading up to Bridgeport after putting up three assists in seven games this season with the Railers. The second round of the New York Islanders in 2022 is in his second year in North America after putting up a goal and 12 assists for 13 points in 62 games last season in Bridgeport. Before coming to North America, he played junior hockey in Sweden. This is expected to be an extended stay in Bridgeport after Marshall Warren was called up to New York with the injury to Alexander Romanov’s injury.
