The Worcester Railers had a busy day today, claiming a player off waivers, signing a player out of college, getting two players from the Bridgeport Islanders, and releasing a goaltender.

Jordan Kaplan Claimed Off Waivers

Third time’s the charm as Jordan Kaplan is heading back to Worcester for his third stint after being claimed off waivers from the Cincinnati Cyclones. Kaplan, 28, had 19 goals and 31 assists for 50 points in 70 games during his first two stints with the Railers. He began this season with the Wheeling Nailers, where he had a goal and five assists for six points in 16 games before being traded to the Cyclones. In 25 games with Cincinnati, he had two goals and five assists for seven points. The Bridgewater, NJ, native is in his fifth season in the league, as he’s put up 47 goals and 79 assists for 126 points in 247 games.

If Kaplan can be the player he was during his last stint with the Railers, he could be a big piece for Worcester, as they will currently sit 10 points out of a playoff spot in the North Division. This also adds another forward for the Railers after Ryan Miotto hit the 14-Day IR today as well.

Gleb Veremyev and Parker Gahagen Return From Bridgeport

The Railers have gotten two big pieces back to their lineup in goaltender Parker Gahagen and defenseman Gleb Veremyev.

Gahagen, 32, spent the last 10 days with the Bridgeport Islanders during his latest stint, but didn’t see any appearances. In seven games this season with Bridgeports, he is 2-5 with a 3.62 GAA and .865SV%. During his time with the Railers, he is 15-8-5 with a 2.50 GAA, .918SV%, and two shutouts. With Gahagen returning to Worcester, William Lavalliere was placed on waivers. The Quebec native was 0-1 with a 3.28 GAA and .886SV% in two appearances with the Railers. He will now return to the Athens Rock Lobsters (FPHL), where he began his season.

Veremyev, 22, has split his time the season between Worcester and Bridgeport. In 22 games with Bridgeports, he has three goals and an assist for four points. During his time with the Railers, he has three goals and three assists for six points in 24 games.

Vincent Corcoran Joins The Railers

The Worcester Railers have announced that they’ve signed defenseman Vincent Corcoran to an ECHL contract. Corcoran, 24, joins Worcester after spending the last four seasons in the NCAA with Bemidji State University. In 116 games with the Beavers, he had four goals and 26 assists for 30 points while serving as their assistant captain this season. The Beaver won the CCHA regular season championship in Corcoran’s second season with the team.

Prior to playing at the NCAA, the Plainfield, Illinois, native played three years of junior hockey in the NAHL. In 52 games with the Topeka Pilots, he put up five goals and six assists for 11 points. He would spend the following two seasons with the Wichita Falls Warriors. During his time with the Warriors, he had 12 goals and 71 assists for 83 points in 112 games. He would add a goal and five assists for six points in 11 playoff games with the Warriors. Corcoran won back-to-back Defenseman of the Year Awards and led all defensemen in assists (44) and points (52) during the 2021-22 season.
