
The Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins agreed to a trade this morning. The Oilers are acquiring goalie Tristan Jarry and forward Samuel Poulin from the Penguins. The Penguins, in return, are receiving defenseman Brett Kulak, goalie Stuart Skinner, and a 2029 second-round draft pick. There is no salary retention on either side of this trade.
Jarry this season in 14 games is 9-3-1 with a 2.66 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage, and a shutout. In 307 games all with the Penguins, he is 161-100-32 with a 2.74 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage, and 22 shutouts. In eight career Stanley Cup Playoff games, he is 2-6-0 with a .891 save percentage and a 3.00 goals-against average.
Poulin is the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ leading point getter with 20 points in 22 games. He has nine goals and 11 assists; he is a plus-eight. In two games with Pittsburgh this season, he was held pointless with a minus-two. In 15 career games, he has two assists and is a minus-five.
Kulak, in 31 games this season, has two assists. He’s a minus-seven with 38 blocked shots and four total hits. In 611 games between three teams, he has 127 points on 28 goals and 99 assists. He’s a minus-one with a shorthanded goal, four game-winning goals, 646 blocked shots, and 572 total hits. In 98 career playoff games, he has 24 points on three goals and 21 assists. He’s a +14.
Skinner this season is 11-8-4 in 23 games with a 2.83 goals-against average, a .891 save percentage, and two shutouts. In 197 career games, he is 109-62-18 with a .904 save percentage, a 2.74 goals-against average, and nine shutouts. He finished second in Calder Trophy voting in 2022-23. In 50 career playoff games, he is 26-22-0 with a .893 save percentage, a 2.88 goals-against average, and four shutouts.
