Corey Perry departed for Los Angeles in free agency, and now veteran teammate Adam Henrique has opened up on his departure from Edmonton as he now becomes a critical Pacific Division rival of his former team.

Free agency didn't see much movement around the NHL this season, but there were a few shocks, the biggest of all perhaps being veteran Corey Perry departing the Edmonton Oilers to sign with their Pacific Division rival Los Angeles Kings.

That comes on the back of two very successful seasons with the team, but given the offer of a $2 million AAV plus bonuses, it was too much for the 40-year old veteran forward to pass up.

Oilers Veteran Addresses Corey Perry Joining Rival Kings

Now, he's likely to battle the Oilers in the post-season after four straight seasons of Kings vs. Oilers matchups in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but when addressing his departure, veteran teammate Adam Henrique had nothing but good things to say about Perry.

'Teams that play against him in the playoffs see how valuable he is, and if they get a chance to bring him in, they do.'

After seeing him for the last two seasons, it's clear to see why the Kings wanted to bring Perry in, and with the team finally looking to get past the Oilers, the believed that poaching one of their most important players was the way to do this.

In over 20 years at the NHL level, Perry has garnered plenty of respect around the league, and it's easy to see when players like Henrique talk about him, but with plenty of battles on the way in the upcoming season, we'll see how heated things get on the ice.
