It looks like the Carolina Hurricanes have their guy.
According to a report from Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli, all signs are pointing toward Eric Tulsky taking over as the team’s full-time general manager.
Seravalli mentioned that candidates for the open position were notified that the Hurricanes will be filling the role internally.
Sources say candidates in the Carolina GM search have been notified that the team plans to fill the role internally.

Believe that means Eric Tulsky will become the next #Canes GM. He has been interim GM since Don Waddell resigned to join #CBJ.#CauseChaos @DailyFaceoff
Tulsky was named interim GM in Raleigh after Don Waddell stepped down late last month after a decade with the team. Waddell has since joined the Columbus Blue Jackets as president of hockey operations and general manager.
While Tulsky does not have the same amount of experience as Waddell, he has been with the Canes as long as Waddell had. Tulsky came to the franchise as a consultant in 2014. The Philadelphia native then became an analyst in 2015, before being named manager of hockey analytics in 2017. He was promoted to vice president of hockey management strategy the next year and was eventually named assistant general manager in 2020.
Though Tulsky has not been in the limelight as his predecessor, he has been involved in all player personnel decisions and oversees the Canes’ hockey information department and pro scouting.
Tulsky has the task of continuing to build on what Waddell has done for the last several years. Carolina has consistently been one of the top teams in the NHL but has been unable to get the job done in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Over Waddell’s tenure, the Hurricanes made it as far as the Eastern Conference final twice, in 2019 and 2023, losing to the eventual runner-ups both times.
